ACE Seminar: Is your VPN keeping you safe?

Speaker: Gareth Tyson

Date/Time: 23-Jul-2015, 15:00 UTC

Venue: MPEB 1.02

"Commercial Virtual Private Network (VPN) services have become a popular and convenient technology marketed towards users seeking privacy and anonymity. They have been applied to a wide range of use cases, with providers often making bold claims, e.g. censorship circumvention, anonymity and protection from monitoring/tracking. I will present an empirical study of VPN security, exploring vulnerabilities that undermine these claims."

Gareth Tyson is a Lecturer at Queen Mary, University of London in the School of Electronic Engineering and Computer Science.
