AnNotify is a scalable service for private, timely and low-cost online notifications, based on mix-networks, sharding, dummy queries, and Bloom filters. This talk provides an overview of the AnNotify design, its security properties and performance. Next, it presents a number of extensions of AnNotify such as generic presence and broadcast notifications, and applications, including notifications for incoming messages in anonymous communications.


Ania Piotrowska is a PhD student in the Information Security Group at University College London. Her research is focused on privacy and anonymity, with a particular emphasis on using mix-networks for anonymous communication.
