ACE Seminar: Post-quantum cryptography based on supersingular isogeny problems?

Motivated by Shor's quantum factorization and discrete logarithm algorithms and by recent progress on quantum computer manifacturing, the biggest national security agencies around the world are encouraging a transition towards cryptography protocols that will resist to quantum computers. Isogeny-based cryptography is a recent trend in this area, with papers on the topic published at top crypto conferences and efficient implementations developed by Microsoft Research.

In this talk, I will review the isogeny problems that have been proposed in the literature, the existing cryptographic constructions based on these problems, and some preliminary cryptanalysis results.

The talk will include joint works with Lauter-Kohel-Tignol (ANTS2014), Galbraith-Shani-Ti (ASIACRYPT2016), and Galbraith-Silva Velon.
